Please help! Bump inbetween ear and neck?

I'm having pain a bit underneath %26amp; farther back than my ear, almost so it's on the side of my neck. It kind of feels like a bruise. I located the spot %26amp; there's a noticeable bump there. The bump is under the skin %26amp; it hurts when and when I do not touch it, but moreso when I do. I've had these random bumps popping up places like the left side of my face in front of my ear. My doctor said the first one was nothing to worry about, but this second one seems to be in a more threatening place, %26amp; it's painful as well. Please help?!

sounds like a swollen gland, or a lymph node. sometime lymph node come out to when your getting sick. I was once told they sort of hold the infection. (this is a good thing) I get these lumps/bumps all the time. Or maybe you could have the mumps, we don't hear of the mumps allot anymore, but i know they were around the area you are talking about. Id see the doc again just to be sure. Hope all is ok. good luck

Reply:Its probably a boil, like a zit under the skin. if it doesn't go away in about a week, see a doctor.

Reply:sounds like a boil. You get those from a lot of chafing. If you wear some type of tight headgear that contacts your neck there it could cause that. If not it could be a swollen lymph gland, which id a sign of some sort of viral infection usually. That's my guess, and no diagnosis to be sure.
Reply:My brother had the same thing. The doctor told him that it was a clogged gland. He had it removed and it came back again.

Reply:GO.....NOW....SEE THE DOCTOR...thats a bad place to be having a bump..lymph nodes are there..mastoid glands are near..if that gets infected or starts to get larger..you could be in big trouble
