Why are Italians always known as racists?

Okay, first of all you can't judge a whole country or culture by a few bad apples, second of all I heard Italains have a special attraction to black sin since it is uncommon over there (black is not olive skin), thirdly Italians are a mixed group themselves, consider Sicilians who can sometimes look east Indian or even black. I think if people want to point out a racist group or stereotype which group is racist I would pick the hick rednecks that hang out in bars and listen to country music all day while drinking beer and whiskey and shooting meth. Sorry but had to put that out there. So why are the Italians always known as racists and also they are portrayed this way in movies? And Colombians I wonder why also? They too along with Argentinians are portrayed as racists when these people are mixed as well.

Why are Italians always known as racists?
You are all over the map (literally) with this one...who cares?

If someone is a racist, doesn't matter what their outside looks like, inside, they are like a maggot filled trash can....
Reply:Just got back from Italy, I encountered no racism there...
Reply:well im italain and some of us are racises its true but not all of us were really good people and i know that some are snobby and rude but like i said were not all like that...........and your right we are all diffrent coulers really just dont think that italians are bad cuz a lot of us arrent so dont think that.
Reply:Just because someone isn't Irish white doesn't mean they're mixed. 90% of Argentinians are of European decent. If you've ever been to Columbia, it is probably the most racist country in the world.
Reply:my family is old school italian, they are very racial to any non-whites, which is causing quite the trouble with our family. i just think that was how they were raised
Reply:I've never heard of Italians being promoted as racists any more than any other European. I have heard many people try to make European and racist synonymous. I have yet to meet a racist person of European origin. So don't worry about stereotypes. Chances are it's propaganda designed to make you doubt yourself and others hate you simply for your race or ethnicity. And, as you know, that would be bad.
Reply:I think anyone that has darker skin and/or eyes gets a lot more prejudice directed at them. Entertainment seems to use stereotypes and further misinformation making the uninformed/uneducated/untraveled believe these stupid generalities. My ancestors are black German/German on both sides. I turned out very light but with light brown eyes. When I was getting ready to move out, my mother thought it was important to tell me that a lot of people would think me stupid because I have brown eyes. I told her that would be their first mistake. You just have to love her, raised with brown eyes in a sea of blue, she was so afraid someone was going to hurt me for no good reason. Anyone with any smarts whatsoever has to know that stereotypes or generalities are never correct. I have always been glad that my parents raised me to be strong and confident and that whenever faced with prejudice I know its a shortcoming in them, not me.
Reply:Yeah, right, just like us Jutes always sailing around the globe wearing our horned helmits %26amp; platinum blond braids and raping, looting and pillaging. And we always have breath that reeks of lutefisk and aquavit as we chew on our mushrooms and paint our bodies with woad. Oh, I forgot the bear grease in our moustaches and the braided beards.

I WOULD SUGGEST YOU GET A BIT OF AN EDUCATION. LEARN SOMETHING USEFUL ABOUT OTHER CULTURES, PERHAPS LEARN ITALIAN OR SPANISH, AND DO SOME SERIOUS RESEARCH BEFORE POSTING OFFENSIVE NONSENSE LIKE THAT. If it were not for that fact that I think you could learn something here, and possibly have a bit of fun, I would be reporting you and asking others to do so as well. Please read the community guidelines again.
Reply:i don't think Italian people are racist even though almost every Italian i've had to be around (whether at work or school) was racist. I've italian teachers who were racist. but i don't think all of them are. i think it's like they either love you or they hate you. no in between. i know this from the modeling industry. if ur black and go to places like Italy or Spain there will be some men that will fall at your feet and there will be a lot of men and women who give you a look of disgust or are impolite. so i think it just depends. but i don't make any assumptions about a group of people based on my experience alone because i know how it feels to be labeled. i'm black.
Reply:I have traveled to several cities in Italy and was loved by many an Italian man there! This whole thing of Italians being portrayed as racist comes from Italian Americans both in reality and on television. I stayed in Palermo and Siracusa for two months each and the Pantelleria Islands for about six weeks and experienced NO racism whatsoever.
Reply:I already knew what everything you're trying to say but whats up with the jumping from one group to another this question is so random sweetie
Reply:yes some are but italians are racist against anyone who isnt italian not just dark skinned people...

and when have u ever seen an italian that looked east indian?..thats just crazy
Reply:im italian in not racist, i don't know how i could be racist to people when if you look back in history blacks and middle easterns mixed with romans, so italians aren't white. if anything, call me olive.
Reply:I cant stand those Italian black sicilian indians!!!
