Good starting Tan Schedule?

I know about skin cancer, ect, please don't tell me that in answers. I'm pale but not deathly pale, and i'm wondering what a good (tested?) tanning schedule would be. aka, go 5 mins every other day the first week, then go 7 mins every other day for the second week ect. Some people have told me going 5 mins doesn't really help tan you, while others say it is good for pale people so you don't just burn the crap out of yourself for no reason. Any ideas? And i'd rather not use the one on the machine, i'd like everyone elses feedback of what they've tried. :)

Good starting Tan Schedule?
When you're in the sun, do you burn first and then tan? Or do you just burn? Your best tanning schedule is the self-tan lotion. Then you can put it on and get a full tan in the same day, two at most, and look good. Everything else takes time to build up, and if you always burn, you'll never tan whether you use machines or not. Also, look at old people who tan a lot, they look terrible. Is that what you want? Stick with the lotion, it's very quick and controllable, and you get the tan you want.
Reply:I think that the best way for you to tan is by doing normal outdoor activity. You shouldn't really worry about a tan, it's not that NB, and I think there's nothing worse than self-tanning lotion, which looks very fake. However, a really cool way to get a tan is by using this cream (Nivea Holiday Skin??) that gradually builds up a tan. My friend tried it and suprisingly it works. If you still really want to tan in the sun, I'd say 10min a wk to be safe...but obviously you also have to use sunblock around SPF 15 (at least). Hope I helped.
Reply:If youre really pale maybe you should try a self-tanning lotion. Go to a beauty therapist and get some professional advice, they will advise you on whats best for your skin type.
Reply:Not trying to be mean and i no you said don't tell me about skin cancer, but there is nothing such as a "good tanning schedule." You should try the jergens tanning lotion it really works and it doens' leave those lines. Most people complain about lines on their hands when you suppose to wash you hands after you apply it. But if you don't like them machine then thats the best way for a year round tan that takes only like 3 mins. Also in a show that i watched they recommended using like a spray bronzer(w/e that it) but it will make youlike 3 shades darker. Everyone in my family complains im too dark because they are all pale. Im mixed so i have like a light caramel skin tone, but i still dont like to be pale in the winter time cuz i am, so you should try the jergens.
Reply:I finally stopped tanning this year after a mole (looks more like a big freckle) developed this really light circle around it...

If you're going to tan, make sure that you know the warning signs for skin cancer and check yourself often!

I'm pale also, and if I had some sun exposure (usually in the spring/summer) i started 7 minutes every-other-day otherwise I started at 5.

Ask the people who work there about the tanning beds... there are a few different kinds. Old beds work differently than newer beds. Also, ask when the bulbs were changed. Newer bulbs are stronger, so you will need to stay in the bed for a shorter amount of time.

Using a good lotion (one sold by your tanning salon) is really helpful. I love the ones that contain hemp seed oil.
