Anyone hear of a false negative???

OK. . . I think I am pregnant and I'm freaking out! I haven't had an actual period in over a month. My period is usually so regular that my husband can set his clock to it, but not this month. Almost 3 weeks ago I thought I had gotten my period, but it was very light and disappeared in less than a day. It hasn't returned since :( I took a test a little under 2 weeks ago, and at the time I assumed it was negative because the second line was barely there- almost nonexistent. I could hardly see it! I took another test just now, and I thought it was negative, but there is almost something there. My husband and I looked at it from every direction, and thought it was negative, but now I'm starting to doubt myself: my breasts are sore, my skin is horribly dry and sensitive and I'm breaking out! Not to mention the fact that I'm hormonal! This is a HUGE surprise and I am seriously stressing! Please help!

Anyone hear of a false negative???
False negatives can occur as home tests aren't 100% accurate. I had 2 negative results before having a result when the line was barely visable and it appeared a hour after taking the test (the box said it would only take 5 minutes). It was when I got the slight line that I visited the doctor and he did a test and confirmed I was pregnant. If you a really think you could be pregnant, get yourself to a doctor to confirm it.
Reply:there is definately a such thing...there is a false negative but no false positive....it could be that there just isn't enough hcg in your urine to make the test show positive...maybe you should go to the doctor and have a blood test...
Reply:Test again. False negitives happen all the time. It may have just been too early. What you probably thought was your very light period was probably just the implantation bleeding. Also if you're doubting the urine tests, have a doctor do a blood test. No false negitives there. Also, urine tests are most accurate if done first thing in the morning...just because the urine has been sitting in your blatter all night, higher hormone content. Try again in the morning.
Reply:There are a lot of false negatives usually from testing too early before there is enough HGC to detect.
Reply:I would think that you are pregnant, but I would take another test just to be sure.
Reply:unfortunately false negatives happen all the time. You may want to wait a couple more days because you might be testing too early for the test to detect the hormone that indicates you are pregnant. If you can't wait take one tomorrow moring when you wake up. That is when your urine is most potent and the test might be able to pick up the hormone. Hope everything works out for you. But stressing about it will only cause you to be later with your period which is why you might be late now - probably stressing that you might be pregnant.
Reply:A false negative means that the test said you were not pregnant, when you actually were pregnant. This happens when your pregnancy hormones are almost undetectable. That is why they tell you to wait a few weeks before having the test. Go to the doctor and have an official test done. And one more thing, stop stressing. Just because it wasn't planned doesn't mean it wasn't a part of God's plan! Good luck!
Reply:It really sounds as if you are pregnant. It may just be too early for a pregnancy test to detect clearly. I got a negative pregnancy test with my son the first time I took it, which was a few days after my period was late. If there is anything there at all it is positive even if it is super faint. In a few days or weeks it will get brighter as your level of Hcg goes up. And sore breasts (not just usual period soreness) are a big indicator of pregnancy. So good luck to you. Take another test in a few days or a week. Maybe try a different brand too, they are all different in the way they show you are pregnant.
Reply:My levels were never high enough to register on the EPT's. It was after I skipped two periods and felt sick all the time that I went to the doctor and had blood work done that I found out I was pregnant. So, yes. False negiatives happen.
