My son has a yeast infection what is the best over the counter medicene to get rid of it?

My 8 yr old son now has his second yeast infection, his first one was actually on his penis, and that was about 3 months ago. Now he has a yeast infection in one of the folds of skin between his genital are and his leg. It is raw, and he is quite uncomfortable even limping because it hurts him to walk. I myself am a 27 yr old female who has never had a yeast infection, so I know nothing about any of the over the counter medicenes. I have been trying to research what medicene to use on the internet, but I would really like some advice from someone who has maybe had to use this kind of medicene before. Which medicene would most likely work best?

My son has a yeast infection what is the best over the counter medicene to get rid of it?
hello there,

you know what, my baby brother has one like right at this moment and this is something my mom does to help with the itch and soreness. (by the way my brother is 9 months old.) Just put your son in a warm bath(let him sit) and put some baking soda in the water and that will clear it up within 5 maybe 6 days. And u can also buy some vitamin e clear gels for him to put on it and that will stop the itching as soon as it is put on there. These are some home remedies that my mom and grandmother use. U will know that the yeast infection will be going away when u see that the area is turning a different color from the original skin color. That just means that it is healing. but this is just a great way to help him without spending so much money on over the counter drugs. just use wat u have at home. and i guarantee u that this works because my brother has only had his for 4 days and his is already going away its just a little spot left . so just try that and i hope it helps your son.

oh yeah make sure he sits in the tub every night with a little baking soda in it.....it wont burn or anything it just a natural medicine to cure his yeast infection.........Hope this helped!!!!
Reply:Poor baby, it sounds really uncomfortable. Check with a doctor, it's possible that you may need a prescription for this one. As far as OTC meds go, I would just go and read the labels, and see if there's a type of cream or ointment for yeast infections. There are women's creams, maybe that would work, and if your son wears briefs, have him switch to boxers so there's more air circulation. But I think most of the OTC products on the market for men, for jock itch and similar conditions, are antifungal and not really appropriate for yeast infections. Good luck, hope he's better soon.
Reply:Sweetie, what you are describing,i dont believe is in fact a yeast infection. This sounds to me more of like a chafing(sp?).That is when one becomes raw.It can be caused by a number of things such as his underwear being too tight and rubbing,it could be caused by moisture being trapped in that area also.Make sure he keeps it well cleaned. It will burn and hurt, but he needs to make sure he washes it thoroughly with warm(NOT hot) soapy water.Make sure he also rinses it really well, and then dries it with a towel. You must make sure this place is taken care of.You can purchase creams, you could even use a diaper rash ointment for this. There is a cream and it is called A + D ointment. It is usually sold near the baby items next to the desitin and other diaper/diaper rash items.Make sure he applies this to the dry surface. It will take a couple days to completely heal up,but this will definitely help it.Good luck hun, have a good day ,and i hope your son feels better.
