Leaving Proactiv for AcneFree.. Should I?

Hi. :]

For a few years now, I've been using proactiv. My skin is completely clear now, so I'd like to switch to something that costs less but will prevent any future breakouts as well as treat the occasional pimple I might get during my menses.

So, there are two types of AcneFree, right? A 3 step and a 4 or 5 step, right? [The second costs about $5 more].

I was wondering if you think I should stick with proactiv or if you think switching to AcneFree would be a good decision.

I'm a little apprehensive because I don't want my acne to come back... But if the product is as good as everyone says it is, then I should be ok, right?

Ha, also, which system should I get?

Thanks a lot! :)

Leaving Proactiv for AcneFree.. Should I?
SWITCH i did it for the same reason you are and acne free ended up working so much better than proactive!!! Get the three step (there is no four step) the 5 step is for severe acne and will dry out your face horribly. I would get the occasional zit while on proactive but i have no had any problems with the acne free and they have an on the spot treatment that works wonders. I love acne free and it was the best decision i ever made. Plus it cost 1/3 of proactive what could be better!
Reply:I tried Acne Free and it didnt work for me.

I suggest Clean and Clear Ultra. Its the 1st thing that has consistently cleared up my skin. Good Luck!!!
Reply:i think they are mostly all the same, compare the ingredients and get the one that is closest to proactive
Reply:I have not heard of AcneFree, but I think your best bet is to compare the ingredients of the two systems (AcneFree and ProActiv) side by side and see if there's any drastic difference between them. If they seem to have the same ingredients, I would say that the switch should be fine! A lot of times, you can find less costly products with the same ingredients as their expensive counterparts.
Reply:if the proactive is keeping you acne free, i would stick with it. you may end up with a product thats not as good, my saying is you get what you pay for, so maybe you could use it a little more sparingly. nutregena has good products . good luck
Reply:No. If it works, don't switch. that's great that it works for you. Alot of people give Proavctiv a bad name. Usually when you switch products especially for the face, it might irritate your skin because of the big switch. It does this to me because I have sensitive skin.
Reply:well in 8th grade i started using proactiv

and it worked great. but after about a year

and a half my skin became VERY dry so i stopped.

i bought the gentler kind later on and it didnt work

so i tried the normal proactiv again and it also

didnt work....

ive tried just about everything

including the AcneFree

and nothing works for me so im going to a

dermatologist in a few weeks.
Reply:Hi,

My little sister used Acne Free and it is not like Proactiv at all. It doesn't help as much as Proactiv did. Now I use Proactiv and it has been such a great thing for me.

That's the reason Proactiv costs more because it works better.

Isn't better to have something you KNOW works too.

I hope this help this helps. Good luck :)
Reply:I'm a consisten proactiv user. I've been using it for a while now, and get the occasional zit..but that's when I haven't been using it daily. I tried switching once..but that didnt work..the acne came back. I suggest staying with proactive..but that's just my opinion..
Reply:yes! it is the Benzoyl Peroxide in both ingredients that works on your skin. i have found that they both work equally for me, so i stick to the cheaper one. salicylic acid that is in most other acne products actually make me break out. i'm not sure what system you should get, but when looking at the active contents, just make sure that it is not salicylic acid. some of the newer Acnefree steps may contain it. benzoyl peroxide is wonderful for people like you and me :). (Also, make sure that it is not much higher than 2.5% Benzoyl peroxide. That is all the amount that you need, anything higher than that can cause excessive dryness and irritation to your skin. Enjoy the extra money in your pocket! :)
Reply:You should stick with Proactive. I think AcneFree's ingredients are different, so you could have different results. I've tried AcneFree but it didn't work for me at all. I use Proactive and it's given me good results.
