Menstual Cycle and Spironolactone?

I am a little confused. I stopped talking birth control over a year ago. 6 months later, my face started to break out in ways I have never experienced. 4 months later, I went to a dermatologist to see about clearing it up.

She said that my hormones probably were out of whack due to the birth control and gave me Spironolactone to take. My skin has been great-I've been taking it for 6 months. Then we moved to a new city and I have to wait for my new health insurance to kick in with my new job.

The last couple of months, I have had mid-cycle spotting-very brownish. I was concerned the first month. The second month (I spotted twice in a 50 day cycle) I figured it was a side effect of the spiro combined with the stress of moving. This month, I am on day 21 (of a typical 38-42 day cycle) and I'm cramping and bleeding, not just spotting. I'm a little concerned!

Does Spiro have effects like this? Is this normal?

And no-we are not trying to get pregnant.

Menstual Cycle and Spironolactone?
I have taken spiro before but never experienced this. You should consult your doctor, please.
Reply:don't save on the wrong things. Go see a Gynecologist. And don't let him talk you in to taking hormones if you don't want to. Start a exercise program, especially jogging and within 2 months you will see your body straightening out. You did not say how old you are. It could be menopausal if you are in your 40s
Reply:ok your face breaks out because of your testosterone level the bc pills being estrogen helped to keep the testosterone level in check spirolactone will help to decreeas testosterone levels .
