Please help me and my dog!?

Ok. I went downstairs just a second ago to go check on my dog. And in the corner of his left eye there is like red, bloody skin sticking out! Please help me i am so scared. He is a one year old Puggle!

Added: Oh, OK. Can your call your parents? If the eye is just red or pinkish, your dog should see a vet, but there is probably no rush to go in the next few hours. If the eye is bleeding, or has something sticking out of it, or has something in it that shouldn't be there, then it's more urgent.

Reply:Sounds like he may have scratched his eye a little too vigorously. Take him to your Vet however, to be sure it doesn't need stitiches or isn't an eye infection or tumor.
Reply:stay calm, call the vet... prevent the dog from rubbing its eye against anything and from scratching its eye. it doesnt sound like a life and death situation as i have seen a chiuhauha with its eyeball actually out of its head (stood on by a bigger dog) and it was ok.

Reply:Call the vet, if you need to bring your dog wait until someone can drive you and keep him from scratching it and irritating it more.
Reply:Dab it a bit with weak antibacterial soap and water then triple antibiotic, see what is really hurt, the tissue or the eyeball itself, does he need a Tetanus, trim his toenails, continue the triple antibiotic, and if fluid is leaking from the eyeball that is not good but it heals quick, just means he has punctured the eyeball itself. Of course the vet will need to see him. If you don give your antibiotics shots the vet will prob want to do this for preventive measures. There is also an antibiotic eye ointment. It shouldn't be a very expensive trip to vet.

Reply:Cherry eye is serious but not a life %26amp; death emergency. Try to keep him from messing with it %26amp; make an appointment to see the vet as soon as your folks can take you. This is not uncommon with dogs that have eyes that protrude a little like pugs. Don't panic.
Reply:Most importantly, stay calm. You staying calm is going to keep the dog calm, and that will keep him more comfortable.





Call the vet on the phone and tell the receptionist your situation. She will get someone on the line to help you.





You can safely put a cold compress on it. Take a clean soft wash cloth with cold water, ring it out, gently put it on the eye for a minute or two. This will slow down any bleeding and will bring down any swelling.





Stay calm... get in touch with your parents and your pup will be fine.
Reply:If it's Cherry Eye, then unfortunately only the vet can help you, by removing the gland and/or placing stitches in the affected area - tugging the gland back into place.





Don't be scared. Make sure that your dog doesn't rub or scratch the area. Tell your parents about it, as soon as they come home, so they can take your dog to the vet. It'll be alright. :)
